Happy Hols Day 9
Top left is ‘Homage to Homard’, illustrating Dd’s approach to life. A scene as we sat down to lunch today.
Bb: There’s a lot of pizza restaurants in Aix-en-Provence.
Dd: It’s a popular dish, and cheap.
Bb: Every time we ask a group of course participants [30-40 age group] to name their favourite food, pizza always wins out!
Dd: What do you say?
Bb: Lobster . . . and it sounds a bit out of place . . . but it is my favourite food!
Dd: I never knew that! How many times have you had it!
Bb: Two or three times. The first with Dad over fifty years ago. I loved the adventure in grappling with it all, and the wonderful juicy meat in the tail!
Dd: Well, if it’s your favourite food you have to eat it more often!
Bb: But it’s expensive!
Dd: Doesn’t matter. Life’s too short . . . look, it’s on the menu here. You’re having it!
And so it was! And it was delicious!
In other news we went to a Raoul Dufy exhibition. Wonderful, all! He had a period living here beside Cezanne, but he was very much his own man.
