Kenilworth Castle

I remember going past Kenilworth Castle as a child. Dad loved to take us in the Hillman Minx to Stratford when we were very young and the ruins were always pointed out as we drove round.

I remember it as ruins. I’d not really thought about a main visit until my friend, who is a keen English Heritage member, said she wanted to go. She’d heard their podcast and assured me they’d really opened lots of interesting rooms.

She was so right.
It was fascinating.
We spent ages there.
We had nearly as much fun as the young children who were climbing up the ruins and finding things on their quiz.

A much more conventional visit to Upton House followed.

Yes, a good National Trust afternoon.

But bravo English Heritage.
