Cut flowers

The rain we were promised has finally arrived. I can hear a satisfying trickling sound on the windows.

I still went to water after a long, hot day at St Hilda's, doing enjoyable things like dead-heading. My head is full of beautiful flowers!

And this is the beautiful summer bouquet I brought home last night: sunflowers, dahlias and rudbeckia. I put the cut stems in my compost bucket so they were easier to carry on my bike. 

It makes me happy to think these lovely plants are finally getting a drink tonight!
