What is time?

I was thinking along the lines of capturing a moment in time tonight so here is my kitchen clock. It wasnt until after I saw it on the computer that I realised it's actually 10.45 and not 7.30. How long has this clock been stopped? It could be a while as I don't look at it very often.

When I was a child I had a brother in law who decided not to run his life by the clock. He didnt wear a watch or have any clocks in the house. He was self employed so he didnt have to be anywhere at a specific time.

Obviously you cant cut yourself off from time altogether - there will always be outside influences - but as impractical as it is, it does sound a fun thing to do.
