Greyfriars
Oxford is full of interesting buildings, but this one stands out - I don't know of any other Norman-style buildings covered in flint here, and it's green spire is a noticeable landmark for anyone approaching the city along Iffley Road. I particularly like this sharply-illuminated statue on the front wall.
What goes on inside I've yet to discover - the Wikipedia entry says it closed in June 2008, and seems to be written by someone who was rather unimpressed at the manner in which this was handled. On the other hand, the Greyfriars Oxford website tells a rather different tale, of a "newly established Centre for Franciscan and Humanist Studies".
In whom should I put my faith?
