Here we go again!

East Sooke Beach

A full day today... we had a great talk about reconciliation and indigenous issues this morning, followed by a windy picnic at East Sooke Park (photo - can you spot J?). In the afternoon, I did a hike led by a guide through the Mary Hill lands - a tract of land that was DND land and has recently become an indigenous protected area of the Sc’ianew (Beecher Bay) First Nation. I tried salal berries for the first time - they grow in the area and taste a bit like a currant. This article from the Globe says they are very nutritious.

Tonight was the Talent-No Talent show. J was on the stage no less than three times, very happy and in his element :)
