Sequoiadendron giganteum
On an afternoon of lashing rain, thunder and lightning it probably wouldn't be a good idea to linger under the Giant Redwoods (Sequoiadendron giganteum) in Sheffield Park. This one is still young - only 150 years or so - and about 36 metres tall. More impressive though is its girth, at head height its approaching 12 metres, my image only shows about a quarter of the trunk.
