Five acres...........
........of sunflowers! A local farm opened up its sunflower field - it opened on August 9th but the weather was unbearably hot - then rainy - so today was the first day I could go and see them. Even then, the temperature had reached 24C when I left. Some of the petals were wilting on some of the flowers, but they were in the highest areas of the sloping fields, and also they didn't benefit from the recent rain as it seemed to have run down on the hard ground to the lowest part of the field.
Lots of bees on lots of flowers. the farmers had cut a curving zig zag path through the field so the descent and ascent was easier. It took a good 40 minutes to wander round the paths.
I saw a photo today of our wonderful lazy (and almost extinct) PM getting off a plane after his second holiday in two weeks. Wife and Nanny were each carrying one of his children and some bags. He had what looked like a very lightweight bag slung over his shoulder, and no child. The women looked like donkeys. I really hope Karma comes to get him soon!
