This is a male Golden Ringed Dragonfly on the Itchen Navigational Canal this evening.
A voracious predator that will even eat other dragonflies, the golden-ringed dragonfly is the UK's largest insect species. Harmless to humans unless really provoked, then can give you a nip.....
