What Are You Doing?

This is not a great photo, but it tells the story I wanted to share today. The Grossbeak was questioning the Flicker's eating style, and she seemed to wonder if he could eat in that position. The Flicker is one of the fledglings from a few days ago, and he is experimenting with his approaches to the suet. I have loved watching all the birds and chipmunks today. The Sparrow is still feeding her three babies; she needs to teach them to fend for themselves very soon. A house finch was feeding its baby and two mating doves. Do the birds usually mate this late in the season? 

I was going home today, but it is hot in Portland, so I decided to stay here longer. There is off-shore fog but at our house, it was lovely, and temperatures in the 70sF are my favorite.
