Clever
Is it clever to clean the streets with drinking water? Of course not. But sometimes I (we?) forget, that there were clever people in former centuries.
When Paris was rebuilt in the 19th century, it received not only one water system, but two water systems. One for drinking water and a different one for non-drinking water. Now it‘s clear that these water outlets (and there are about 12‘000 of them in the city) only use non-drinking water.
