Dead tree - new camera...

Every time I go shopping at Sainsbury's I pass this dead tree and I've always thought I should make the slight detour and stop to take a photograph. Today I did just that...

For some time I've been mourning the demise of my favourite camera, my trusty Canon EOS 1DS Mk III that turned it's toes up when the shutter failed. No longer supported by Canon and (apparently) impossible to repair.

Yesterday I spotted one for sale from a (very) trusted dealer for a good price. From the photos the camera looked remarkably clean and after a telephone conversation with the dealer I decided to buy it. The camera arrived this morning and a quick check showed the previous owner to be a lady and the shutter activation count was an astonishing 4,115 or 1% of shutter life.

As you may guess I'm very pleased to have acquired this camera for £449.00. In my opinion the 1DS Mk III is the best camera Canon ever built, no whistles and flutes admittedly, just good solid quality...

...and it's quite heavy, perhaps the reason why the previous owner had it so long and used it hardly at all...
