Middle Earth

We walked over to the Museum and Art Gallery this morning.  They are holding a Middle Earth exhibition this summer so Pete and I went into that whilst Ann settled for the portrait paintings exhibition.   The L-O-R display was excellent, larger than I expected and well attended.  There were books, artefacts, posters and paintings associated with Tolkien's work, they even had a dragon that moved every now and then, not quite as impressive as the Birmingham bull, but pretty good.  The last Lord of the Rings exhibition we went to was at the Science Museum, London in 2003.

After leaving the museum we went down Friar Street to the National Trust property , Greyfriars House and Gardens.  They have a cafe in their lovely, secluded garden and we enjoyed a cup of coffee and watched a mother duck with her offspring wandering around the tables looking for crumbs.  Although there is not a pond in the gardens we were informed that she comes back every year to this spot to lay her eggs.

This afternoon we didn't do much after our late lunch but Emma and Rafferty called by for a short visit and Raffy had a good time learning how to use a watering can on the potted plants we have on the patio.

The main picture is of Pete outside the museum, the extra is a collage of some of the pics I took inside.
