Sheffield and the Peak District

Up early and on the road, driving through some downpours and on some very wet roads up through Lincolnshire and into Sheffield, to the GA HQ in Sheffield. A cuppa and then a few meetings. Headed down into the archives to do some research for a project I've been doing about the 106 (so far) GA Presidents and made some good findings. Lunch and chat with new colleagues, and then a long meeting where I was taking notes. Mid afternoon I headed up through a bit of early rush-hour traffic and out to Moscar on the edge of the Peak District to my friend Ruth's who I was staying with. We went out for a walk over the moors - blooming heather and grouse who had survived the previous weekend. A quick pint in the Strines and then back for lovely meal and fizz and then chat and music and whiskies. A very pleasant evening and a dark and quiet room with the cool of the night coming through an open window - such a relief after the heat of the last fortnight.
