Queen
It’s the annual village festival this week.
There is the usual events including the scarecrow trail which this year has the theme of Kings and Queens.
Rather liked this image of Boudica / Boudicca ( Buddug in Welsh) in a local shop window.
Boudica was a queen of the Iceni Tribe of Celtic Britain.
She led the uprising against the conquering forces of the Roman Empire around AD60/61.
After it failed it is believed she either poisoned herself or died from her wounds.
She is a national hero as she symbolises the struggle for justice and independence.
Finding out about her was the first history lesson l remember, it was early in my life at my first schoo which l left when l was seven.
