Extended Families
Wonderful Spring walk through Newhall with last wedding guests to go - my sister and brother-in-law, back to Texas. They have been such a help and a relaxed joy to be with. Leyna totally took over the care of Mum, and worked miracles with her, with Dave ferrying them, as well as my "special" brother, around to events.
At the reception speech that my husband and I shared, I said how in our culture people tend to think that marriage is about two PEOPLE being joined, but that in most cultures it's about two FAMILIES joining. We certainly feel not that we've lost a daughter, but that we've gained a son, and I love Sam's parents and extended family.
This made Dave realise how much he has appreciated being part of our family for the last 34 years, and the feeling is definitely mutual.
(Back-blipped for yesterday - hopefully have more time to do it properly now.)
