Wild flowers or weeds?

I was in town today setting up the Left Party trailer/van in the square, where it will stay until after the election here on the 11 September. If you want to check out the different parties policies you can walk through the square on a Saturday and all the parties are lined up there offering literature, coffee, and conversation. The rest of the week not everyone is there but the bigger parties are usually around.
This picture is taken about 50 steps away from the square. The water here looks like a canal but is actually the sea where it passes through the town, linking the north and south sounds. These rather lovely wild flowers are considered by many to be weeds when they appear in the garden, but I think everyone is happy to see them here by the water.
