Hornet troubles

So much of the fruit is gone to hornets, jays, the whippy winds that brought storms. Mustn’t grumble given inflation and drought. Made some apple sauce with consistency of wallpaper paste and collected a few boxes of slightly less damaged apples and some last plums. Figs in overproduction and a second growth of squash coming. Some of potatoes have got rot that looks like blight. Strange but maybe it is the extreme heat has cooked them. I shall try and plant out some autumn veg once I’ve turned the ground over after very welcome rains.

The polytunnel has been a godsend even though I was very sceptical given the heat. A last melon, plenty aubergines and peppers and toms.
