A productive day
Having tidied up yesterday, I had a picnic lunch and 4-5 hours of work on the allotment. I cleared the sweet peas and lettuce from the maypole and had a rare sit down job sorting through the debris for the seed pods. The hens got the lettuce and the rest went on the communal compost heap as my bins are currently full.
A bit of foraging to pick the yellow plums and damsons from the hedgerow that surrounds the site and some blackberries from a friend's plot (her freezer is already full).
Then onto harvesting the pink fir apple potatoes - finally a good harvest and they are much less knobbly that usual. so I now have a 2 x 4 metre area cleared ready for more action. I need to decide what to put here by next weekend - either some autumn/winter salad crops, save the space for some of the alliums arriving next month or some green manure.
I also had donations of peppers, beans and sweet peas from others to make up today's produce. I love our allotment community. :-)
