A lovely day …

….. for walking along the Lower Shotover.
I was delighted to come across this fungi, which I believe is Velvet Shank, flammulina velutipes. It’s also edible apparently. It looked so pretty growing in its inhospitable surroundings, that I’d have had qualms about bringing it home.

It was such a beautiful day, warm and only a slight breeze. I’ve put a photo of the Shotover River with the Remarkables in the distance.
