The Pipe Track
Today began with mist and rain in West Devon. The woods were dripping wet, which seemed to saturate the colours and enhance the atmosphere. My photo shows the path known locally as the Pipe Track. The name originates from pipes that once carried china clay in suspension from the clay pits near Cadover Bridge. The clay was then discharged into large granite settling tanks at Shaugh Bridge. From here it was transported to Plymouth. Part of the exposed pipe can be seen in this shot. Originally there were two pipes side-by-side. North Wood, shown here, is now in the care of the National Trust. Walking through the woods today I found a small brown frog - the first time I have seen one here.
