More County Tops
The long journey back to Cumbria was broken by "bagging" more county tops:-
We visited the highest points in London, Kent, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The Blip is Haddington Hill, the top of Bucks in Wendover Woods, by far the most noteworthy. The Chiltern Society have even gone to the trouble to put a stone there. Mr P is reading the inscription.
Hertfordshire (Pavis Wood) was disappointing ( extra of me standing on a verge on the corner of a road) and London was a real let down ( the 2nd extra of a road and a gate on Westerham Heights just inside the London Borough of Bromley ) . Yes at 245m this is far higher than for example Hampstead Heath (136m) or Crystal Palace (116m) . This "hill" is disappointingly also the highest point in Kent , the boundary goes down the middle of the road. . Of all the beautiful places on the North Downs Way we've had to come to this uninspiring road!
But of the "tops" we have "bagged" on our little break, two have been Marilyns:- Leicestershire and Buckinghamshire. If its a Marilyn, its a real hill, there has to be a drop of 150m on any side.
