Bit of a drizzly day but was quietly productive with a zoom Board committee meeting first thing, then I did some more planning and sorting (getting appointments set up that I’ve been meaning to do for ages, more Italian, a bit of laundry and cleaning). Nipped down to town to get the tiles framed that I bought in Pittenweem and look for some new trainers (they didn’t have my size), and did a bit of food shopping on the way home. Don’t feel like I’ve done much food shopping or cooking for the last month!
Nipped over to Traverse to watch a screening of a film ‘Move’ that was made of performances last summer on beaches around Scotland of a theatre piece about migration and loss and motherhood (extra). Some good bits but overlong I think, and. very grey (perhaps inevitably).
Dashed home, grabbed some spare warm clothes (unnecessarily as it turned out!) and dragged A&N across town in a rush to get to the restaurant. We just managed to settle and order before 6.30pm so got the early evening menu prices…result! We went for fairly full on Scottish food, with haggis, salmon, lamb etc, and it was all delicious. Lots of exited chatter and looking forward to the evening. Then on went our Royal box lanyards and we met MH. Enjoyed the reception before moving to our seats (complete with tartan rugs for our knees!) and A&N were so giddy by this point….N FaceTiming his Mum in Turkey to let her see the venue and soak up the atmosphere.
The show was brilliant….talk about spectacle! Lots of fun stuff and we especially loved the Swiss drummers who were amazing. Can’t really sum it up but A&N had a great time and M and I really enjoyed it too. The party afterwards was also fun, and we chatted to one of the NZ performers, and some Scottish ones, and an MP (random!), a drummer and someone who works in the logistics team. Should have worn my medal!
We came home with A hobbling on blisters but she said it was all worth it! Very late night but lots of fun…
