In the doldrums

I was going to say, 'flat calm,' but it's the same thing. If you are a sailing vessel in the doldrums, you are going nowhere. It's a muggy day, even opening all the windows makes little difference. I wrote a difficult letter and posted it. The physical feeling of posting a letter is much better than pinging an email. That's it. Out of my hands.
