Whitwell Well Dressing

The annual dressing of the well in the village of Whitwell took place early this month. I was passing by and so stopped to take a picture. It isn’t very good but owing to the extreme heat some of the petals and the Queen’s profile have deteriorated.
Hydrangea petals are used primarily and it must take hours of work and patience. One year the good folk made a replica of the Beatles! Sgt Pepper’s album cover with the Fab Four in their colourful coats. It was superb. I guessed the theme this year would be Her Majesty’s Jubilee.
