Parasitic Mites

We are back home and it's warm and very humid.  It looks as if there has been some very heavy rain while we have been away.

I was watching this strikingly coloured white-tailed bumble bee on our lavender and noticed that it had an infestation of parasitic mites on its thorax.  I looked for guidance on mites on Google and found that they were grouped with spiders and scorpions.  There are many thousands of different species.
