Wide Wednesday - Historic
Our building is one of the older ones in our area. Built in the early 1970’s by the Bricklayers Union and all their apprentices ; ). A mammoth project obviously! I liked the bricks against the sky.
Historically the native white ibis were never in the cities here however a series of droughts in the 50’s saw them start to move into cities and towns looking for food. Nowadays they are well established and their nickname is ‘Bin Chickens’ ; ).
At the local lake there is a little island in the middle with some big paperbark trees growing on it. A large flock of ibis have made it their home for about the last 50 years and currently they are nesting.
In extras is a shot of one of the big communal nests - the birds at the top of the tree are the males who just hang around with nothing to do ; )
Thanks to Bob for hosting WW ; )
