HOVERING THINGS

I nipped over to RSPB Saltholme (I'm so lucky that it's so close) and even before I made it through the main entrance I spotted a Hummingbird Hawkmoth on a buddleia, and managed to get a few decent shots (second extra). Then I found a few Migrant Hawker dragonflies zipping about and grabbed a photo while one briefly rested (first extra). While I was stalking insects I also saw a Sparrowhawk plunge like a missile into a bank of brambles and dozens of starlings explode out of it. Quite spectacular and too quick for me to get a picture. I never have a visit there without something interesting and uplifting to see (though I doubt whether the starlings saw it that way).
