La Purísíma Mission Weaving

We continued the streak of fortuitous mission events by arriving at the La Purísíma Mission ten minutes before a guided tour was to begin. Turned out we were the only takers and were treated to an hour and a half history lesson by Padré Rob (a docent dressed in period garb). Not only was he supremely knowledgable about mission history, he took us behind the locked gates of many exhibits. My wife even got a lesson in weaving, adding a couple of rows to an ongoing blanket. Even though we have now visited 16 or the 21 missions, we learned so much by having a guided tour.
