SNOW MONKEY

Snow Monkey?  Where's the snow?  Well, it's summertime in Milwaukee at the zoo and snow is scarce this time of year.

Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata) a.k.a. Snow Monkey.  Native to the northern islands of Japan (DUH!). They are perfectly at home here in Wisconsin's winter weather. And if they do get bothered by some cold, they just go inside the warmed building.

This pair is doing a bit of grooming...it's the monkey version of a good old back scratch. It also cements the bond between individuals. I can attest to back scratches acting as bonding cement among humans as well.
