Monday passed by quickly
I was the phone person for the Walking Festival today. It was busy. People phoned to book walks; people phoned to cancel walks. I had several really pleasant chats with people. There were so many calls my hair dried before I had switched on the hairdryer and had to be washed again later to correct the rather zany result!
One lady phoned from Aberdeen to cancel. She was so disappointed. Her father was the GP for the POW camp at Featherstone and she wanted to come to the walk and exhibition we have called "War, Peace and Reconciliation".
This evening Paddy Dillon, the author of many walking guides, came to speak about The Reivers' Way, a long distance walk in Northumberland. It sounds like a good route, but missed out a lot of reivers' country. I think it could do well if given another name. Paddy is a good speaker and everyone enjoyed the talk. The audience was a mixture of people from the town, festival walkers and our own volunteers. Just great.
I'm hoping to tag onto the Sketching Walk tomorrow, camera in hand. It's going to be a cold one.
PS I had no idea how busy the phone cover could be. Hats off to the people who normally do it and take it in their stride!
