Nocturne
Driving around town later than usual tonight. The sky was interesting, full of peach and blue stripes and airplane lights, and there seemed a lot happening on the ground too - a blockade of firetrucks down the road (the red light), busy McDonalds drive-through, guy on a lightless bicycle stashing groceries in the basket and disappearing off into the night. Impossible to drive through a summer night here, unless it's raining, without the overarching buzzing, trilling, chirping songs of the insects and frogs. I'd come from an interview with a prospective new local choir director, an unexpected involvement for me, and stopped at a favorite restaurant to pick up a gift card for Daniel's long-time guitar teacher. Big packing day tomorrow!
