5 minutes of rain
It was a damp and dreary day today but in the space of 5 minutes it poured and caused a lot of flooding, its normal for Autumn to have leaves block the drains but Christchurch is on the protected side of the South Island and doesn't usually get down pours like this.
I saw the deep black clouds coming in as I had to go to the local shop for some essentials and while in there it bucketed down and turned wet streets into waterways.
Canterbury is so flat that it has trouble with such rain although I am lucky where I live that we are at the top end of the street and it runs past quickly.
I hope not too many people suffered from damage but I am sure a few did
