What it needs...
We both slept pretty well in our new abode, Mr A in particular who declared that he didn't notice that I got up a couple of times in the night.
We have everything we need here. As of just now, we have a bookcase put (back) together (I think I last put together either 18 years ago, or26 years ago...). It belonged to my mother, and I think was something that she had when she briefly lived on her own as a teacher in the early 1950s. It's quite mid century modern, and is an amazing piece of early flat pack furniture. Everything just slots together.
We have one picture on a wall, and plans for another five to go up (of which one is visible in one of the pictures). We're just having a Campervan Beer, which has remained reasonably cold in our cold box since Edinburgh yesterday morning. We have a couple of (neglect adapted) houseplants which I've brought up here (mother in law's tongue for example).
We've measured up for some curtains (most of the windows have blinds so that is also fine in the very short term but not good for later in the year), and ordered some big kitchen appliances for delivery next week. I've studied online a manual for the heaters and figured out how they will work. We're trying to work out how our more "intelligent" kettle best works, although Mr A declares himself dissatisfied with anything that doesn't do straight up and down boiling.
And Tain has everything we need too. We had a bit of a wander around again, and bought ourselves a sauté pan which will be very useful. And other practical stuff from the supermarket.... I guess we've spent a lot of money (again) today, but only what was needed ;-) We popped into the Highland Council service point and had a nice chat to some ladies who gave us information on best ways to sign up to pay council tax, etc, and printed us out the schedule of bin collections in Tain (although tbf they also have a bin strike right now....but nothing like the mess we've seen in Edinburgh....we all agreed that people need to be paid a wage which is "living" under current circumstances).
