Loch Maree/River Ewe picnic spot

Today is the last full day of our holiday in Wester Ross  - and what a fabulous day it has been.

We started with coffee/tea and toasted teacakes in the Bridge café in Poolewe.

Then we set off for our main expedition of the day: to complete the 10k Loch Kernsary walk on the recommendation of KirstyK. The route was absolutely beautiful - first through woodland and moors, and then back along Loch Maree/River Ewe with amazing views of the Torridon mountains. In my main blip is our picnic stop beside the River Ewe. In the extras are a shot of a gorgeous oak tree at the halfway point of the walk, and a twig representation of our state of mind on this wonderful holiday.

On the way home we stopped above Gruinard Bay to photograph the location of our (rented) cottage in the context of the magnificent scenery that surrounds it. It's at the foot of the forested part of the landscape in the second extra.

Back at the cottage we played Scrabble outdoors (Mr hazelh won) and then I cooked a frittata for supper. There may be a couple of games of Azul later...

We have had such a lovely time here that we have asked our pal who owns the cottage if we can put our names down for a week in June next year.

Exercise today: walking (16,518 steps).
