The Price

The prompt for my picture a day group today was "The Price". When I saw it, my middle school days immediately came to mind. One of my favorite teachers, Mr. Whalen, often found himself off on a tangent. When he wound down from the tangent and was ready to get back on topic he would always say "But what does that have to do with the price of cheese in Chicago?"

Whenever someone asked what day it was he'd reply "Today is a day like many days, filled with those events which alter and illuminate our times."

He said both of those things so many times that they were actually questions on our final exam. I'd be willing to bet dollars to donuts that there is not one of his students who doesn't remember those two sayings. Nor who doesn't remember Mr. Whalen fondly. He was an excellent teacher and a wonderful human being.

But what does that have to do with the price of cheese in Florida? :)
