Egrets among the VWs

I went to Middleton Hall for a quiet time in the garden and a stroll along the lake side.

I had to queue to get down the drive - unheard of. There was a VW event - everything from camper vans to Beetles and everything else you could imagine.

I needn’t have worried. They were having a great time, but few ventured into the walled garden and even fewer wandered down to the lake.

There were three egrets amid the fading water lilies and they seemed oblivious of the hundreds of car enthusiasts.
