An unusual sight.
This morning I sat down at the table to eat my breakfast....nothing unusual about that....and immediately spotted a Monarch Butterfly fluttering its way to a palm leaf, high in the air and just outside the window where I was sitting.
Throughout breakfast I kept an eye on the butterfly, and it didn't move. Wouldn't you think a butterfly would find a flower (which my garden is chock-a-block full of right now) a far more interesting perch?
After breakfast I grabbed the camera and took a photo of the very calm butterfly, perched lazily atop the palm leaf.
I have chased butterflies from flower to shrub to tree and back again around my garden at times, taking the most unsuccessful photos of them as they simply will not sit still long enough for me.
I think this butterfly that I saw during breakfast must be on some kind of sedative, and just zoned out on the most convenient leaf available!
