Corfe Castle…Lulworth Cove
This morning we set off a bit more promptly and drove to Corfe Castle early enough to get a parking space at the National Trust car park (free for members). We walked along the railway line to Norden Station - the beginning of the line - and watched the first steam train come in. By the time we got back to the village it was heaving! We had a coffee in a cafe overlooking the castle and then stopped at the village’s popular bakery and bought a sandwiches for lunch which we ate in the grounds of the church overlooking the castle. We made our way back to the car along the footpath that circles the castle, way above the road. See Extra photo for more views from Corfe Castle.
This afternoon my friend had some visitors who are also camping nearby. She made some delicious cheese scones and baked them in my Remoska oven. We enjoyed an afternoon of conversation over tea and cake and scones.
It was a beautiful evening so after the friends left we threw together a picnic and drove over to Lulworth cove. We found a place to sit on the cliff path overlooking the cove - more cheese scones, some soup, and other treats. There wasn’t much daylight left but we had about 45 minutes there before heading ‘home’. A very enjoyable day!
