Shirotani Expressway

Me and Pickle decided to cycle from Honshu to Shikoku, which is 70km. It was a bit foolish with heavy bags, no training, and rented bicycles not designed for long rides. Nevertheless, we were pleased to finish it in 2-4 hours under the approximate journey time (we did it in around 6), and enjoyed seeing island life along the way. The route followed the road along the island and over a number of large bridges. All around were sea and mountains. Bought some very cheap oranges and salted ice cream to recharge, then suddenly felt the bruises on our bums. Lesson learnt: DO NOT DISMOUNT. Here is the bike path leading up to a 4km long suspension bridge, with an oil tanker in the distance.
