Bridging the gap

Between two flowers of goldenrod. It's a locust borer beetle, only the second one I've seen this year. I did see a quick fly by of a great spangle fritillary but it zoomed off before I could get a shot off. And that's the only one I've seen this  year. there were 3 clearwings on the pink buddleia today , they prefer pink to the purple  one. interesting. hot and no rain again today and probably tomorrow as well. Garden is dust.
The chickadee in extras has found the ant traps on the hummer feeders to be a great source of water- can't keep em filled.
