The Leaderfoot Viaduct
Today I picked a geocaching loop in the Borders. It started from St Boswells and followed the St Cuthbert's Way. Although there were lots of geocaches, it promised a scenic tour but to be honest it was quite boring and didn't offer any opportunity for a nice blip. I therefore stopped at this viewpoint on the way back, not knowing what it was a view of and I was surprised it was this impressive viaduct. The Leaderfoot viaduct (also known as the Drygrange Viaduct) was built between 1862-65 and is over 900ft long and 126ft high above the river Tweed below. It is no longer operation with the last freight train crossing 1965.
