Messing about on the river.
An enjoyable day spent at Naburn Locks.
As it was a Bank Holiday there were a few boats about on the river.
Just as we arrived three boats were waiting for the lock to fill before they could continue their journey up river to York. Always something which is interesting to watch.
The lock keeper no longer has to do this by hand as it is now all electric.
You can see they just missed a paddle boarder coming in the other direction!
Our usual walk along the river bank. Not much of a river view as the Himalayan Balsam was head height.
We did disturb a young deer which was hiding in the undergrowth. Just saw the back end as it jumped up and was away in the blink of an eye.
A mainly dull day but warm, and hot when the sun did appear.
Hope you have all enjoyed your Bank Holiday.
We certainly have, and managed to find a peaceful spot.
