Pulling together
We had planned today....then on waking, decided the weather wasn't playing ball, so changed tack. It meant staying in, in the morning became going out. Just to Cromer for a couple of bits, but then we met up with Dan and had coffee together at The Gangway - another of our favourites. Cromer was very busy with visitors. Can't blame them. It really is a great place to be on a bank holiday.
Back home by midday ish and began various jobs. Jon sanded and varnished the pew, I did some pruning and weeding. The space in front of the conservatory has been cleared and tidied- Henry weeded there yesterday, and it is now ready for the pew. We hope the yacht varnish will be enough to give it some protection in all weather. My weeding continued into the evening, although I could have gone on and on. Henry then went out to buy and then fit the under cupboard lights for the kitchen, which are fantastic! He did it in no time. We also ordered a strip light for the conservatory which he will fit when it comes in. I can't really use the conservatory in the winter as it is so dark and cold. But the light will make a big difference, and as this coming winter everywhere is going to be cold, it will be no different to the rest of the house! I really lucky to have him on hand for all electrical jobs!
We have been talking a lot about where we can reduce our electricity use. We know the biggest users and things that heat up. As we now have an induction hob on our electric cooker, we are thinking it may be cheaper to have a kettle on the hob. Unfortunately we had a really nice hob kettle, but it was in our old caravan. I'm going to do some research. Jon has taken some of the bulbs out of our lounge lights, but we don't think that is going to make a huge difference. We are also thinking about using the small battery radio, and rechargeable batteries. Again, some research needed to see what it will cost and if its worth it.
Mollie prepared bacon sandwiches for us all for lunch, with home grown tomatoes and cucumber. Then prawn curry and cauliflower rice for dinner. She really is the queen in the kitchen.
Now some relaxing before an early night!
