Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 244
Coasting in from a rainy and cool Geneva to a breezy but sunny Edinburgh. The 500 mph flight from the cradle of Swiss civilisation to the Athens of the North took less than two hours. Dijon, Paris, London, Leeds, Carlisle, Peebles and Musselburgh were the way points. In this blip, Portobello Beach can be clearly seen in the top left. The once mighty Leith Docks are now all but redundant. The former Royal Yacht , two tugs and a restored silt carrier are the only vessels in port today. By contrast Edinburgh's airport was heaving with flights in bound from Istanbul, Madrid, Copenhagen,Paris and Krakow alongside all the domestic arrivals. No one has the time to take the sea routes anymore. Apart, of course from the Porty Rowing Club whose skiff skipped across the waves on a round trip to Musselburgh this afternoon.
