Slug Fest!

Silver bells and cockle shells .
A week ago we helped our friends empty their family home .
Deliveries to charity shops , pick ups from other charity shops and then the filling of a skip . Among the things that we were compelled to rescue was a big bag of cockle shells.
Fast forward to yesterday……. Slugs have been feasting on my pumpkins ! My latest weapon in the slug wars is a sprinkling of cockle shells that must surely be uncomfortable to crawl over .
I’ve used sawdust effectively round other precious plants but protecting the pumpkins is another matter .
