A hole
A couple of times in recent weeks the two dogs have gone AWOL and been discovered on the forest track above the house, outside our fenced area. They would probably have come home of their own accord but it is never a good idea to let dogs wander in the countryside.
We assumed there must be a hole in our fence and given where the dogs were thought it was probably within a stream, in which the current low water levels were creating an additional opportunity to squeeze under the wire.
Late this afternoon Cathleen and I set out to find it and guided by Breagha soon did even though it was well hidden by rampant growth in a place we hardly ever go.
It was as expected in one of the streams and was at a point where a wooden barrier that let through water had broken.
I have done a temporary mending and hope that an increase in the water level - likely after the rain that is forecast for the weekend - will close the route off, given that neither Rula nor Breagha enjoy being immersed in cold running water .
Time will tell.
