In front of Whitburgh House there is a metal bull sculpture and two glass seedheads with views beyond towards the Lammermuirs . The garden was open today in aid of charity and in the walled garden are little “rooms” full of very colourful and some fairly unusual plants. Apart from some impressive fruit and vegetables many areas contain grasses of different colours and textures and of course flowers. There are some innovative plant sculptures using box and a pyramid of yew and just beyond the walled garden five different types of birch line a winding spiral mown path. Several metal and glass sculptures are dotted around and include Penny the cheetah who is entirely covered with pennies. Three penguins which are made from old motorcycle petrol tanks watch over the pool and there is also a hound using recycled metal. There are various glass sculptures including the large blue flower and alliums. It is really an unusual and outstanding garden.
