Our Gran was known/addressed as "Mother" I suspect due to Mam, brought up by Victorian parents, addressing them as "Mother" & " Father".

Be that as it may - another "Motherism" springs to mind:-

The curious thing is - the Cock has different lengths of stride at opposite ends of the day?  Start has barely moved 1.5 hrs whilst end has snuck back from 21:00 to FAULT!!!  Closer inspection shows it's almost = due, I suspect, to the squeezing down of the length of an hour on the graph? And having to guesstimate the time part way twixt 03:30 & 06:00
