Pagoda Plant
...Clerodendrum paniculatum, native to India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. A couple of years ago a neighbor kindly offered me two of these. She just unceremoniously yanked them out of the ground after they finished blooming and I rushed home and planted them in my yard. They've now spread throughout our backyard. This particular plant, growing happily in filtered shade, is 6' tall and it's flower bract is 16x12''. They aren't overly invasive and are easily pulled up, so I'm just letting them be. This summer we've been treated to their spectacular orange blooms throughout the yard! They bloom for most of the summer and the butterflies (especially the swallowtails), pollinators and hummingbirds love adore them! Thanks, BikerBear, for continuing to host FlowerFriday.
